How corn silk inhibit the melanin(pigment) production
In maize ,the female flower produce Corn silk,which is generally regarded as waste a discarded.
Corn silk contain protein ,phenolic compound particularly flavonoids,vitamins,carbohydrates calcium,potassium,sodium salt ,volatile oils &,steroids such as sitosterol and stigmasterol.
Researcher in Korea have reported that silk decreased melanin production by about 37%.
Melanin is an natural pigment that responsable for skin color. It is produced by a cell called
melanocyte. Melanin production is inhibited by corn silk how?
Biosynthesis of melanin starts with oxidation of tyrosine by tyrosinase. The corn silk extract did not suppress tyrosinase activity but greatly reduced the expression of tyrosinase in Melan-A cells. In addition, corn silk extract was applied to the human face with hyperpigmentation, and skin color was measured to examine the degree of skin pigment reduction. The application of corn silk extract on faces with hyperpigmentation significantly reduced skin pigmentation without abnormal reactions. Corn silk has good prospects for use as a material for suppressing skin pigmentation.
Corn silk also a soothing diuretic for almost all problems of urinary system.Corn silk extract can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells.
Corn silk tea is most reliable for treatment of post transition disease such as cancer ,diabetes etc.
